The 2nd Annual Learning With, From and About Each Other Student Interprofessional Education Day, hosted by the Des Moines Area Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPE), focused on learning more about professionals’ roles and responsibilities in the health care setting.

120 Mercy College students representing the Clinical Laboratory Science, Health Science, Healthcare Administration, Medical Assisting, and Nursing programs interacted with students in health related programs from Des Moines Area Community College, Des Moines University, Drake University and Grandview University.

Students participated in activities that focused on preconceived ideas of various medical professionals’ roles in the healthcare setting and communication between these individuals.

“The IPE Student Day was a great opportunity to get first hand perspective and collaboration with students pursuing other disciplines in healthcare. As a health science major, it allowed me to gain knowledge and hear voices from both students and faculty members in professional programs that I am currently interested in. Overall, it was a great experience bringing students and faculty from all the major universities in the Des Moines area.”
