260 Students Earn Academic Honors for the Fall 2018 Semester

Congratulations to all 260 Mercy College students who earned academic honors for the Fall 2018 semester!

To qualify for the President's List, students must attain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher, in their most recent semester, for a minimum of six credit hours.

College closing at 5pm (1/29) through Wednesday (1/30) due to extreme cold

Mercy College of Health Sciences will close today, January 29, at 5pm through tomorrow,  January 30, due to predicted record wind chills. Classes will resume Thursday, January 31. To learn more about our closing policy, click here.

College opening at 10:30am due to inclement weather on 1/23/19

Due to inclement weather, Mercy College of Health Sciences will open at 10:30 am today, 1/23/19. All classes, labs, and clinicals, which would have been in progress at 10:30 am, will begin at 10:30 am and meet for a shorter time.

MLK Jr. Day Event and Peace Walk on Campus

(DES MOINES,IA) – On Monday, January 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Mercy College of Health Sciences is hosting an MLK Jr. #KeepTheDreamAlive Event and Peace Walk. The event will start on campus at the Sullivan Center, Room 102 from 9am – 12pm.

Accelerated BSN student receives NURSE Corps, full ride scholarship

(Des Moines, IA) – Mercy College of Health Sciences student Georgia Jorgensen has been named the recipient of NURSE Corps’ full ride scholarship for the 2018-19 academic year. NURSE Corps is a national program developed to provide care to underserved areas and populations. The Corps offers scholarships to students enrolled in nursing degree programs at accredited institutions. As per the requirements, scholarship recipients must be willing to work in a critical shortage facility in need of caregivers after graduating their programs.

Mercy College Announces Scholarship for all Full-time Medical Assisting Students

(Des Moines, IA) – Mercy College of Health Sciences has announced a new $900 scholarship for students seeking their certificate or associate degree in Medical Assisting. The scholarship will be awarded each semester to students enrolled full-time and working toward the completion of their Medical Assistant (MA) coursework at Mercy College. A MA is a multi-skilled health professional specifically educated to work in ambulatory settings performing administrative and clinical duties. Mercy College’s three-semester MA program immerses students in actual work settings with a 240-hour clinical practicum preparing students to enter the workforce with the necessary knowledge to be successful. Those enrolling in the Associate of Science in Medical Assisting program will need to complete an additional 25 credit hours to complete their associate degree.
