Mercy College of Health Sciences is the recipient of the 2018 Caritas Institutional Award from Catholic Charities for volunteer service provided by their students. Caritas is Latin for “charity.” Each year, Catholic Charities gives the Caritas Award to one organization whose volunteers and supporters demonstrate compassion to those in need, serve with humility, and display love for all people.
Douglas J. Fiore, PhD, will be inaugurated as Mercy College of Health Sciences’ third president on Wednesday, April 10.
Inauguration events begin with a Mass at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Cathedral. The installation ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 pm at Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center, with a reception to follow.
Inauguration activities continue Thursday, April 11, with a campus Prayer Walk, campus tours, lunch in the Brennan Hall Commons, dinner in the lobby, and a Faith & Healing Speaker Series. The speaker series features Michael Galligan-Stierle, Ph.D., President, Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities; Sister Mary-Paula, Associate Director for Mission, Conference for Mercy Higher Education; Colleen Walters, Chief Mission Integration Officer, MercyOne.
