Today, leaders from Mercy College of Health Sciences and the Mercy Foundation dedicated and announced the opening of the new Josephine Norkaitis Student Success Center.
Named for the late philanthropist and education advocate Josephine Norkaitis, the space is located on the Mercy College campus in downtown Des Moines. The Josephine Norkaitis Student Center provides students with opportunities to enhance their education through academic and personal counseling, tutoring and related support services.
The Josephine Norkaitis Student Success Center, made possible by Norkaitis Family Charities, will help Mercy College prepare graduates for service and leadership in health care by providing an innovative place for them to learn and grow.
“We are excited to open the Josephine Norkaitis Student Success Center at Mercy College, to enrich our student learning and experience” said Barbara Q. Decker, J.D., president of Mercy College. “This new space will continue to help establish Mercy College as a national leader for excellence in the delivery and innovation of health services education.”
“We are extremely grateful for the Norkaitis Family Charities’ generous gift to establish the space in honor of Josephine Norkaitis,” said Mercy Foundation President Shannon Cofield. “Josephine Norkaitis was a woman of deep faith who was committed to educating students. This center honors her lifelong legacy of philanthropic generosity.”
