Through the generosity of donors, Mercy College of Health Sciences has more than $480,000 in scholarship dollars to distribute in the 2015-16 school year.
The fall scholarship round opened on October 1 for students wanting to apply for scholarships to assist with their spring and summer 2016 educational plans.
- More than 20 scholarships with funds available to award before the end of the calendar year, totaling more than $130,000.
- More than $349,000 has been awarded already this school year!
Mercy College is grateful to the generosity of its donors, which helps assist the next generation of health care leaders in their educational goals.
This letter of gratitude between a recent scholarship recipient and donor reflect how these funds impact lives:
"When I received word of this financial gift, I was filled with a sense of both thankfulness and humility that someone wanted to contribute to my education and assist me in this way. Education has a cost associated with it, but I view it as an investment- not only in my future, and myself but as a future physician, an investment in future patients and families.
Scholarships are viewed as gifts, and while this can be considered true, those who give can be reassured that their "repayment" will be in each moment a life is positively impacted. Gifts such as these serve as a reminder that I am not alone in my educational endeavors and serve as additional motivation to commit myself fully to my studies. Someday, I hope to be a great physician, but also a grateful one, conscientious of those who have helped me along the way. Again, thank you for your generosity. - Aaron Hemsworth

It is common that awards require a minimum grade point average and the demonstration of financial need.
