October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  According to the U.S. Department of Justice, college age women experience higher rates of intimate partner violence than any other age group.

Mercy College has partnered with Children and Families of Iowa to bring The Red Flag Campaign to Mercy College’s courtyard area

The campaign is used to educate college students about dating violence and to encourage friends and peers to “say something” and help.

We want our students to be able to stand up, say something, and be supportive of a possible victim when they see a relationship red flag. It could save someone’s life!

The Red Flag Campaign was developed in 2005 by the Virginia Sexual & Domestic Violence Action Alliance. The campaign has grown and now has been experienced on hundreds of college campuses nationwide across the United States and Canada.
